I couldn’t have chosen a better record in my return to the albums review. It’s been crazy times for me, I mean, nothing bad happened, I was just feeling tired, which I should say mostly due to lack of time. But here I am after 5 months, trying to make up the lost time. These guys came up from Southend in the middle of 00’s and since then they have been proving how much they are capable of reinvent themselves. There’s still something magical about Faris Badwan. In this new album, he leads his band away beyond Primary Colours. Now they are more shoegazer than ever, and some people would say they’re getting deeply into 80’s influences, such as The Chamelions and even Slowdive, which is pretty acceptable, just take a listen for instance to “Still Life” or “Wild Eyed”. Personally, I think The Horrors is becoming one of the most intricate and innovative bands of our generation. Their seek for new layers and sounds plus their ambition on producing themselves all the songs are transforming the band into something bigger.
